Childhood in Nigeria
The Seed of a Prayer
I was born in West Africa, Nigeria, into a family so impoverished that even the poor called us poor. I am one of six children, and my twin sister and I are the last born of our parents. Growing up, we could barely afford one meal a day. The gnawing pain of hunger was a constant companion.
By the time I was 12 years old, I knew I had to step up. I joined the workforce not for pocket money, but for survival. I did whatever it took no job was beneath me. I worked on building construction sites under the scorching sun, and I served as a bus conductor, shouting for passengers just to earn a few coins to bring home to my family.
During those grueling days, covered in dust and sweat, I developed a habit that would define my entire life. I would whisper a short, desperate prayer to God:
“Oh Lord, help me. Bless me so I can take care of my family, my community, and the world at large. Help me so that poor people can have hope and eat at least one good meal a day.”

I didn’t know it then, but that prayer was the founding charter of STEVEWORLD OUTREACH.
Church & Music
The Melody of Faith
In the midst of that hardship, I found solace in music. With no formal training, I taught myself to play the drums. Soon after, I taught myself the piano. I began serving as a drummer, and eventually a pianist and Music Minister, in my local community church. Music became my refuge. But more than that, it became a lifeline for my family.
The church community saw my dedication, and they supported me with tips and gifts that helped put food on our table. It was there, serving behind the keys, that I learned my first lessons in leadership and community service. I saw how a small act of kindness could ripple out and change lives.
Inspired by My Father
The Dream of a Soldier
My father served in the Nigerian army. As a young boy, I would sit at his feet and listen to his stories. The discipline, the honor, the call to protect – it burned deep within me. I promised him and myself that one day, I too would wear the uniform and serve as a soldier.
It felt like an impossible dream. No one in my family had finished high school, let alone attended college. The cycle of poverty seemed destined to swallow my dreams.
The Visa Lottery
The American Dream Realized
In 2005, by the sheer mercies of Jehovah Ebenezer – “The Lord My Helper”, I won the American Visa Lottery. In September 2007, at the age of 24, I stepped off a plane onto American soil. I had very little money, but I carried with me the weight of my family’s hopes and the prayer of a hungry child. My journey in the U.S. is a testament to what hard work and God’s grace can achieve.
In January 2008, I started at the very bottom of the healthcare ladder as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). I was determined to climb. I enrolled in school immediately and did not stop. In just 12 years of relentless, non-stop academic pursuit, I achieved what once seemed impossible:
Through it all, I maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. I wasn’t just going to school; I was working full-time as a registered nurse, managing units, and leading teams.
Military & Healthcare
Serving the Nation
I fulfilled my childhood promise. I served my adopted country as an Active Duty Family Nurse Practitioner in the United States Army. It was the highest honor of my professional career to provide primary care to the soldiers and families who protect our freedom. Professionally, I have held every title in nursing: Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Manager, Director, and now Doctor/Nurse Practitioner. I am Board-Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and a Nurse Executive (NE-BC).
In 2019, the nursing community honored me with the ANA-Illinois “40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader” Award. I did this all while leading hospital units, managing over 120 staff members, and improving patient satisfaction from 75% to 96% through sheer dedication to quality care.
My Greatest Motivation
The Blessings of Fatherhood
Beyond the titles, the white coats, and the degrees, God blessed me with my greatest earthly treasures right here in America: my beautiful children, currently ages 15 through 13. They are the joy of my life and the reason I wake up striving for excellence every single day. I work so hard, I study so relentlessly, and I serve so passionately to ensure that they never experience the crushing hunger, the demeaning labor, or the crippling hopelessness I knew as a child in Nigeria.
Every step I take in building STEVEWORLD OUTREACH is a step to build a better world for them and for all the children around the globe who still face the struggles I once faced. They are my daily reminder that a father’s love, combined with God’s grace, can break generational chains.
Founding STEVEWORLD OUTREACH
The Answer to the Prayer
I never forgot that prayer I whispered as a 12-year-old boy. Now, God has blessed me with the resources, the education, the platform, and the network to finally answer that prayer. STEVEWORLD OUTREACH is the culmination of my life’s journey.
STEVEWORLD is not just a non-profit; it is the fulfillment of a covenant I made with God when I was hungry and helpless. It is the vessel through which I can finally provide that “one good meal a day” to the millions still suffering in Nigeria, Africa, and right here in America. It is how I bring healthcare, education, and vocational training to the very communities I came from.
“I am a living testimony that your current situation does not dictate your final destination. If God can take a poor bus conductor from Nigeria and turn him into a Doctor in the United States Army, He can do immeasurably more through this foundation.”
